You Called Me

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 (Image: Unsplash)

Dear God,

Thank you for calling me.

I’m not talking about the role of ministry, although I like speaking to others about Christ and seeing their lives change for the benefit of your kingdom.

No, I’m talking about you calling me to you.

Take this morning, for example.

I woke up ready to do everything else that I wanted to. Checking my emails, my social media accounts, the news, and the affairs of my family. But what I didn’t do is check in with you, Lord. I didn’t open my bible, I didn’t pray to you (talk to you). I didn’t think about the fact that you woke me up this morning.

I didn’t think about any of that.

However, I noticed that my Bible, which I keep on my bed or dresser, was always right there every time I came into my room to get something. And you used it to call me to you.

You kept calling me to you. Your holy spirit kept calling me to you. Gently. Patiently. Quietly working on my spirit until I couldn’t relax anymore. Hallelujah!

You never forced the issue. You just let me know that you were there when I was ready to receive you. You never made a BIG DEAL out of it. Nor did you condemn me for not having spent time with you. Life would do that in time.

God…YOU CALLED ME to your side. And I’m so glad that I finally obeyed.

May I speak to our readers now, God? Thank you.

God is calling YOU. You may not be able to hear him right now, because you are too distracted by the desires of your heart, and Satan makes worldly things so attractive, that you can’t see the bible in your room.

But he’s been calling you for years. Gently, quietly, patiently waiting for the day that YOU finally grow tired of the world and its deceptions and give him your life.

My God has been keeping you for years, but he is not going to force a relationship with you. If no one has told you before, I’m telling you now, your relationship with Christ is not a RELIGION. It’s a personal choice to denounce the world and choose Christ, trust Christ, and love Christ MORE than you do the world.

It’s choosing to step away from the lust, temptation, greed, and fear of the future in exchange for the love of the one who HOLDS the future.

What are you going to do? IF THIS WORLD ENDED TODAY, COULD YOU HONESTLY SAY THAT YOU WOULD BE READY TO MEET HIM AS YOU ARE RIGHT NOW?

If the answer is NO, then you know what you have to do…

…answer God’s call. TODAY.

I love you, family.

Thank you, Jesus, for calling me.

Sincerely,

A Young Pastor
